Myriad Myths & Mysteries: A OPRPG Collection
A downloadable game collection
Come Earthling. Come close. Here you will find stories that will take you to another world.
This collection of OPRPGs is my "ideas laboratory." The most recent are:
The Party for Perfection: A Transhumanistic Nightmare: The Party for the Perfection of the Human Being, or the Party for Perfection for short, is starting to promote clinical trials for what it is calling The Immortality Serum. The capital and seat of the Transhumanistic government, Darwingate, has a small but determined Resistance who know the grim truth – the Serum will not defeat death, and whatever life it prolongs may be a grim parody. This Resistance of the Breath remembers the power of nature, called the Breath. As so few remember the Breath, those who remember have been granted great power. The Party is using its cold inventions to gain more and more control of the human race and is even starting to ask for what the Resistance disparagingly calls Disemblia – camaraderie or shows of loyalty though body modification. Unless the Resistance moves quickly unedited humanity may soon all fall to the party’s depraved corruptions.
Blood in the Night: Inspired by simplified OSR games. BiN uses a stealth-centric heist/combat system. Movement is measured in rooms instead of spaces. Each round the thieves roll to see if they are still "hidden." Guards can be distracted with smokebombs in order to get the opportunity to get hidden again. Done in 2-index cards.
Wonderer: Most adults have forgotten Wonderland. You have not, dear Wonderer. Perhaps there is a “imaginary” friend you still love there. Perhaps you need to escape your situation in that dreary place called reality. Perhaps you want to, almost literally, go inside your mind. Or maybe you want to make sure that Earth doesn’t contaminate Wonderland – and vice versa. Unlocking your imaginations power may cause madness . . . but don't worry. We are all mad here.
Concord & Chaos - A diceless RPG focused on characters on a diplomatic mission. Conserve your character's currencies to maximize effect when it matters most. This is a game about determining what choices do the players find most meaningful. Currencies are replenished when doing character moves that require specific circumstances, consequences or costs, and may have mixed effects. NPCs will be more or less receptive to PCs based on their position in society - some will begrudge Royals, others will only associate with the rich and mighty. Will small diplomatic mission succeed? Or will they be turned away. Rules are One page front and back, though does include "playbooks" for the different character archtype, thus this stretches the defiition of a OPRPG. Secrets, events that target exhausted (e.g. low on currency) charactersand an auction system for character v character opposition add depth to play.
