Play test 2 / What do YOU think of the alchemy system?

It may take me a while to get the video up for this one with work. But in summary:

The Good

  • Players really liked rolling for opportunity, as opposed to there being a finite number
  • Players enjoyed the collaborative aspects of the game. Today’s mission involved saving miners and players were allowed to strategize who would go where based on what the miners need.
  • Different mining rates worked well. I have adjusted the chart drop-rates.

Improvements

  • Alchemy system is being adjusted. The Mar-12 version of the rulebook (just uploaded) includes a simplified system.
  • Now, most one-time instantaneous effects (approved by GM) can be done for 3 or 4 of the same resource. Each resource is paired with a certain kind of effect.
  • Alchemy Dice-roll impacting effect charts simplified to make easier to understand.
  • Mutation system simplified.

The quick reference and the booklet reflect some initial adjustments due to today’s playtest. I will be sleeping on the system and might make more. Any thoughts from YOU on the alchemy system would be appreciated.

  • I am going to edit the phase order so that environmental impacts and opportunity roll both happen at the end of the round, I think having one at the start of the round and one at the end of the round can lead to one or the other being accidentally missed. (Book does not reflect this yet)
